What is Lumecca IPL?

Lumecca is a non-invasive intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment that delivers outstanding results for skin rejuvenation. ML Spa offers two distinct service options: Lumecca IPL for pigmentation concerns such as sun spots, age spots, and freckles; and Lumecca Vascular for vascular concerns like spider veins and broken capillaries. Sessions last between 15–40 minutes depending on the area treated. A minimum of 4–6 treatments is recommended, though many clients see visible results after just one session. The Lumecca IPL sensation is described as a gentle, warm flicker of light, while Lumecca Vascular feels like a light snap.

The Process

How It Works

Lumecca delivers high-intensity light pulses that are selectively absorbed by pigmented lesions (melanin) and vascular structures (hemoglobin). This selective photothermolysis heats and destroys the targeted cells without damaging surrounding tissue. For pigmentation, the treated spots temporarily darken before flaking away to reveal clearer skin. For vascular lesions, the heat causes the vessel walls to collapse and be reabsorbed by the body. The light energy also stimulates collagen production, providing an added skin-rejuvenating benefit.

Candidacy

Ideal Candidates

Lumecca is well-suited for individuals with sun damage, uneven skin tone, visible brown spots, redness, or broken capillaries. Both IPL and Vascular treatments are available for the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands. Results vary based on the degree of pigmentation or vascular concern - your technician will assess and recommend the right number of sessions.

Recovery

Aftercare

Temporary redness may occur but usually resolves within a few hours. Treated pigmented spots will darken before naturally flaking off over the following days - do not pick at them. Sun protection is essential following treatment. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.
